Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Interim HR Director to temporarily strengthen our HR project team during a large-scale organizational restructuring. The reorganization is currently in a crucial phase where thoroughness, precise planning, and clear communication are essential.

As the Interim HR Director, you will be responsible for directing and executing the HR processes surrounding the placement and selection pipeline. You will support the HR Project Manager in the preparation, organization, and execution of the restructuring, ensuring all formal HR processes are carefully prepared and executed from an administrative, legal, and procedural standpoint.

This role requires an independent professional who can maintain a strategic overview while remaining hands-on with execution. You must combine strong analytical skills and organizational talent with a practical approach: identifying risks, thinking ahead, and ensuring that actions are successfully carried out. Within a change process of this magnitude, meticulousness is paramount; every step must be correct, fully compliant, and properly documented.

Key Responsibilities and Result Areas

During this assignment, you will be directly responsible for:

  • Formal Correspondence: Drafting, managing, and monitoring all personnel letters and other formal HR/employment law correspondence arising from the reorganization.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitoring the quality, completeness, uniformity, and timeliness of all formal HR correspondence to ensure it aligns with executive decision-making, the placement process, and applicable labor laws.
  • Timeline Coordination: Organizing, coordinating, and monitoring the planning and schedules surrounding the formal communication process.
  • Project Support: Assisting the HR Project Manager with the overall planning, structured workflow, and organization of the restructuring.
  • Risk Management: Identifying risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies within the communication pipeline, and proposing strategic improvements to safeguard the progress, coherence, and careful execution of the process.
  • Appeals Support: Assisting with objections, appeals, and formal employee feedback processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Employment Law & HR Correspondence: Demonstrable experience drafting high-level formal HR and employment law correspondence.
  • Restructuring Expertise: Proven track record managing large-scale reorganizations, with a strong preference for experience within higher education institutions (universities or universities of applied sciences).
  • Placement Processes: Extensive experience navigating employee placement and selection processes within a restructuring framework.
  • Project Management: Excellent organizational skills, a strong sense of planning, and a proven ability to maintain project progress under tight deadlines.
  • Methodical Approach: A highly careful, structured, and risk-aware working method.

Why Take On This Assignment?

This assignment offers a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to a socially relevant restructuring initiative within higher education. Working alongside an experienced HR project team, you will help navigate an organization-wide change that has a major impact on employees and the future of the institution. The role demands deep substantive HR expertise, robust project management skills, and a high degree of accuracy and professional independence.
